TITLE. Meeting the requirements for an efficient collaboration within 3D Collaborative Virtual Environments: a survey of 30 years of practice
ABSTRACT. This keynote will make a quick survey about the application domains and the social aspects of CVE, then it will present the requirements (from the user point of view) mandatory to achieve an efficient collaboration, depending on the degree of collaboration that is targeted. Last, it will dive (not too deeply) into the technical/structural/networking features that we need to meet the requirements for efficient collaboration within CVE.
Thierry Duval is currently a full professor of Computer Science and the head of the Computer Science Department at IMT Atlantique, an elite technological university in France, and the head of the INUIT team of the CNRS Lab-STICC laboratory. Since 1993, his research interests are in Virtual Reality and Human-Computer Interaction, especially in the topics of 3D Collaborative Virtual Environments, at the intersection of Virtual Reality (VR), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Computer-Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW). He produced around 100 publications and has been involved in the supervising of 17 PhD students on these topics.
