ABSTRACT. ACM SIGGRAPH, through its History Committee, has made progress in archiving more of the content produced under its auspices than the papers presented at the annual conference and the materials included in the Computer Animation Festival and its predecessor, the SIGGRAPH Video Review. However, to date, the organization has not considered the issue of systematically curating and archiving 3D models, even famous ones such as the Utah teapot or Stanford bunny, along with the means to interactively display them.
This topic is a natural one for the Web3D community. The goal of this workshop is to kick off a discussion of a 3D model archive, considering what already exists, identifying issues, and making a plan for a way forward.
The speakers will make short presentations on different aspects and requirements of an archive, and Q&A and discussion will follow.
